Lions' Calvin Johnson tiptoes around knee injury questions
Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson was asked Thursday about a report by Erin Andrews of FOX Sports that claims he's had fluid drained from his right knee during the course of the season.
Johnson wouldn't confirm the report, but he wouldn't deny it either.
"No, I cannot confirm," he said, via Josh Katzenstein of the Detroit News.
When asked if he could deny the report, Johnson tiptoed around the question once again.
"Smart guys," he said. "Y'all a trip."
Lions head coach Jim Schwartz was also mum on Johnson's lingering knee issue.
"You know me, the answer is no, no and no," Schwartz said. "I wasn't around or watching TV during those reports. I don't know that that's unusual for players in the NFL. This goes back as long as I've been here or maybe as long as I've been in the NFL that there are a lot of players that have stuff like that which requires to get them to game day, but I don't comment on any individual player’s injury situation."
Johnson was back at practice on Thursday after sitting out Tuesday and Wednesday, and is expected to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
