Report: Conner staying with Cards after agreeing to revised deal
The Arizona Cardinals and James Conner agreed to a revised contract that will keep the running back with the team for the 2026 season, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Conner played just three games in 2025 after undergoing season-ending ankle surgery. He finished the year with just 133 total yards and two touchdowns on 40 touches.
The 31-year-old posted back-to-back 1,000-plus rushing yard seasons in 2023 and 2024. He's recorded over 3,700 rushing yards with Arizona since joining the club in 2021 after a four-year stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
With Conner sidelined for most of the season, Arizona had five running backs record at least 29 carries in 2025. Two of those rushers, Emari Demercado and Michael Carter, are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents in a few days. Additionally, Zonovan Knight will be a restricted free agent, while Trey Benson is under contract for two more years after being drafted in 2024.
The Cardinals are entering their first season under new head coach Mike LaFleur in 2026.
