San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy's recovery from multiple injuries is going better than expected, and the signal-caller could start next week against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Jauan Jennings, who was listed as questionable for Week 3 with ankle and shoulder injuries, won't play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Purdy is dealing with turf toe and a left shoulder injury. He suffered both ailments in the season opener and was a limited participant in practice this week after not participating in any sessions leading up to Week 2. San Francisco initially listed Purdy as questionable for Sunday's game, but he was later ruled out.

The 25-year-old missed two contests last season due to injuries. He's 24-13 as the 49ers' starting quarterback after being selected with the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Purdy signed a five-year, $265-million extension this offseason, making him tied for the seventh highest-paid quarterback in the league.

Mac Jones, who made his first start with San Francisco last week, is set to start again Sunday against the Cardinals. The former first-round pick led the 49ers to victory over the New Orleans Saints, throwing for 279 yards and three touchdowns. Adrian Martinez is expected to be Jones' backup Sunday, sources told Rapoport.

San Francisco is 2-0 heading into Week 3.
