Dolphins' Hill impressed with McDaniel despite loss: 'His piss was hot'
Despite another losing effort Thursday night, wide receiver Tyreek Hill said he was impressed with how head coach Mike McDaniel led the Miami Dolphins.
"His piss was hot," Hill told reporters following the 31-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills. "I love coach McDaniel. I love him to death. Obviously, he gave me a chance to come to Miami and play, and I don't take that for granted.
"To see how he coached and to see how he led men today, it was a beautiful thing to see. Can't wait until next week."
McDaniel's job security has been a hot topic throughout the week as Miami now remains winless after three games. However, the Dolphins made it clear heading into Thursday's matchup that they have their coach's back.
"At the end of the day, it's not him out there on the field," defensive lineman Chop Robinson said this week. "It's us out there playing the game, making the mistakes on the field and stuff like that."
The Dolphins entered the contest against Buffalo as a massive underdog but kept the contest close until the fourth quarter, when mistakes ultimately cost them.
With just over 10 minutes remaining and the score tied 21-21, Miami was flagged for roughing the punter, giving Buffalo a second chance on offense. The Bills capitalized with a Khalil Shakir touchdown before Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw an interception on the next possession to all but ice the contest.
Miami will take on the division-rival New York Jets in Week 4. The 2018 Houston Texans are the only club out of 117 teams since 2000 to start 0-3 and still make the playoffs.
"How do you want to be remembered?" Hill added postgame. "Do you want to be the 0-3 team that just was like, 'Hey, we just going to throw in the towel and just say hey, it's over with,' or are we going to be remembered as the team that started off 0-3 and found a way to turn it around going into the fourth game?
"We got great captains, great leadership who do a great job of setting the standard every day at practice and also in the locker room. We got a beautiful thing going right now."
Hill finished Thursday's game with five receptions for 49 yards and a touchdown.
