The NFL is tinkering the wild-card round by ending it with a playoff game on a Monday night.

Beginning with the 2021 season, the new Wild Card Weekend format will include two games Saturday, three Sunday, and one Monday night, the league announced Friday.

Wild Card Weekend will be held from Jan. 15-17 this year. The Saturday games will be held at 4:35 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. ET, the Sunday tripleheader will take place at 1:05 p.m., 4:40 p.m., and 8:15 p.m., and the Monday finale will start at 8:15 p.m.

The league expanded the postseason before last season, pushing the number of participants from 12 to 14 after adding an extra wild-card spot to each conference.

A 17th contest was also implemented for the 2021 campaign, meaning the Monday night wild-card game won't run head-to-head with the College Football Playoff National Championship.
