The Baltimore Ravens signed free-agent running back Le'Veon Bell to their practice squad.

The Ravens will likely promote Bell to their 53-man roster when he's ready, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Baltimore suffered significant attrition at tailback after losing both J.K. Dobbins and Justice Hill to season-ending injuries before Week 1.

The Ravens worked out Bell alongside Devonta Freeman and Trent Cannon to fill out the depth chart.

Bell returns to the AFC North after beginning his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a 2013 second-round pick. A two-time All-Pro in Pittsburgh, Bell has been unable to replicate his numbers since leaving the franchise after the 2017 campaign.

The 29-year-old split last season dressing for both the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs. Bell struggled to find playing time with either club, totaling 328 rushing yards and two touchdowns in limited appearances.

Gus Edwards is projected to receive a majority of snaps after signing a two-year, $9-million extension with the Ravens in June.
