Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb will be placed on injured reserve after suffering an MCL sprain during Sunday's win over the Dallas Cowboys, head coach Kevin Stefanski announced Monday, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Chubb's knee injury isn't season-ending, but he will miss around six weeks, a source told Rapoport. Cleveland's bye comes in the second week of November, so Chubb could be eligible to return Week 10.

The veteran back is also required to miss at least three weeks while on IR.

Kareem Hunt will take over the No. 1 role in his absence. Third-year pro D'Ernest Johnson, who led the Browns in rushing against the Cowboys with 95 yards, is likely in line for an expanded role.

Chubb was the NFL's second-leading rusher with 335 yards through four weeks. He also racked up four touchdowns on the ground. Hunt is second on the Browns with 275 yards and three rushing scores and two receiving scores.
