San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa will miss the remainder of the season after an MRI confirmed he tore his ACL in Week 2, the team announced Monday.

An MRI also confirmed fellow defensive lineman Solomon Thomas suffered a season-ending torn ACL, the team announced.

Bosa and Thomas were among a handful of Niners who went down with knee or ankle injuries at MetLife Stadium, raising questions about the new turf in New York. The NFL said Monday the field surface satisfied all necessary inspections and policies.

The 49ers will forge ahead without their top edge rusher, who won Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2019 after piling up nine sacks. The former No. 2 overall pick had six tackles and one forced fumble this season before suffering the injury.

Thomas was the team's third overall pick in the 2017 draft and was playing in the final year of his contract.
