After reports surfaced last week that Jamal Adams is expected to skip April's virtual offseason program, New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas addressed the star safety's status with the franchise.

"Jamal is an unbelievable young player," Douglas said, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. "Our plan is to keep Jamal here for a long time."

"Going into this draft, my goal isn't to move any players," he added, per NFL Network's Kimberly Jones. "But if a team calls, (we) will listen."

The Jets reportedly have yet to express any official interest in extending Adams this offseason. The 24-year-old is eyeing a new deal and called out New York's management last season for shopping him before the deadline, causing a temporary rift between the two sides.

Douglas said Monday that he plans "to connect with Jamal after the draft," adding that he hasn't had "any conversations recently with Jamal," via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

The executive said in February he wanted to make the All-Pro defensive back a "Jet for life."

The Jets drafted Adams sixth overall in 2017. He quickly emerged as one of the NFL's premier safeties and is likely angling to be among the highest-paid players at his position.
