Elliott: Other RBs have been better than me this season

Ezekiel Elliott doesn't believe he's been the best running back in the NFL this season, even if he's in the middle of a stretch where he's looked like it.

"I think there's been running backs that have played better than me this year," he told Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. " ... I don't think it bothers me. It kind of adds a little fuel to the fire. I've got some more work to do. That's all."

Elliott got off to a slow start - by his standards - but has averaged a league-high 118.3 rushing yards per game since Week 6.

The 24-year-old sits sixth on the rushing leaderboard in 2019, trailing Dalvin Cook, Christian McCaffrey, Leonard Fournette, Nick Chubb, and Chris Carson. Chubb is the only member of that group with fewer rushing attempts than Elliott, who will face the league leader, Cook, and the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10.

"Just his speed, his ability to stretch and cut and make guys miss," Elliott said of Cook, who holds the NFL lead with 894 rushing yards. "He's definitely a special guy."

Elliott led the league in rushing in two of his first three NFL seasons. He was suspended for six games in 2017, the only year he wasn't the rushing champion.
