Brady passes Peyton Manning for 2nd-most passing yards in NFL history
Tom Brady continued his climb to the top of the record books on Thursday Night Football.
The New England Patriots quarterback leapfrogged Peyton Manning for the second-most career passing yards in NFL history on his first throw against the New York Giants.
Brady passed the mark on a dump off to running back Sony Michel that went for 19 yards, bringing the future Hall of Famer's career total to 71,942 passing yards, behind only Drew Brees' 74,845.
The 42-year-old passed legendary gunslinger Brett Favre for third on the list in Week 5, and he's now eclipsed his contemporary Manning, who he beat in 11 of 17 contests during their storied rivalry.
Over his 20-year career, the pivot has also compiled 527 touchdown tosses (12 behind Manning's all-time mark), 6,122 completions (good for fourth all time), 35 fourth-quarter comebacks (eight back of Manning's lead), and 212 regular-season wins (first all time).
Aside from appearing in the most Super Bowls (nine) and winning the most championships (six) while being named Super Bowl MVP four times, Brady has also been lights out in the playoffs, ranking first all time in postseason wins (30), touchdown passes (73), and passing yards (11,179).
Brady will look to continue climbing the all-time passing yards list as Brees, the man he's chasing, sits out with a thumb injury.
