Fantasy: 10-team mock draft with analysis after every round

theScore staff took part in a 10-team, 12-round mock to provide a glimpse of what your drafts could look like and give some insight on what to watch for in each round.

This is a standard (non-PPR) scoring league with the following roster spots: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, FLEX, BN, BN, BN, BN. We left off defenses and kickers, as they normally get selected in the final two rounds.

Draft participants: Justin Boone, David P. Woods, Jack Browne, Mike Alessandrini, Dan Levine, Caitlyn Holroyd, Gino Bottero, Taylor Rohaly, Michael McClymont, Dan Wilkins.

Round 1

Round 1: Gordon going off the board second overall is slightly surprising given his ADP (1.05), but he belongs in the conversation as one of the top fantasy backs. He finished the 2018 season with the sixth-most fantasy points among RBs, despite missing four contests due to injury. On a per-game basis, Gordon averaged 18.8 points, second only to Gurley ... Speaking of Gurley, concerns about his knee injury have caused him to slide into the late first and sometimes early second round. Even with his touches expected to be scaled back, Gurley has significant upside in the Rams' offense and remains an RB1 in fantasy. He's one of my risky picks worth gambling on in 2019.

Round 2

Round 2: The second round is loaded with high-end talent this year. Every name in the table above has a legitimate shot to end up as the top fantasy player at their position ... Though Bell's move to New York scared owners enough for him to fall in this draft, he sneaks into the first round of most mocks I've done this season ... Mack and Cook closed out 2018 strong in offenses that are committing to the run. Both backs are primed to make a fantasy leap heading into their third year in the NFL and are excellent selections at the end of the second round.

Round 3

Round 3: You could make a solid argument that Kelce deserves to be a borderline first-round pick in 2019, given the star tight end's elite production and Tyreek Hill's uncertain future with the Chiefs. Kelce posted three straight 1,000-yard seasons at a position where owners struggle to find consistent fantasy stats beyond the top three, who were all drafted in our top 30 ... Brown's drop to the third round is a stunning development. For all his off-field, trade-inducing antics, Brown is coming off a 104-catch, 1,297-yard, 15-touchdown campaign - his sixth consecutive season with over 100 receptions. At 30 years old, he's still in the mix as the best receiver in the game.

Round 4

Round 4: Jacobs is the first rookie taken, which should be the case in all drafts. David Montgomery and Miles Sanders won't be far behind, but Jacobs has the clearest path to a massive workload ... Carson is an underrated selection in the fourth round after putting up low-end RB1 numbers from Week 3 to Week 17. He'll enter the year as the leader of a two-man committee in the Seahawks' run-heavy offense alongside sophomore Rashaad Penny, and the departure of Mike Davis will shift even more pass-catching work onto Carson's plate ... My rankings, specifically my lack of trust in Fournette, may have influenced this mock. Most leagues will have at least one owner willing to select him in the first three rounds.

Round 5

Round 5: Mahomes' ADP has him going in the second round, but our drafters weren't seduced into taking him that early. With some natural regression coming after a 50-touchdown season, as well as the aforementioned Hill situation, Mahomes is a little closer to the pack than some might realize. Quarterback is far too deep a fantasy position to warrant investing a high pick, so the fifth round seems appropriate ... Freeman could be a major steal at this point. With Tevin Coleman gone, Freeman has a chance to once again be the unchallenged alpha dog in the Falcons' backfield while ceding a handful of touches to Ito Smith ... Howard getting scooped up here was the first of many tight ends I'd regretfully miss out on.

Round 6

Round 6: No one wants to draft Miller, but after the Texans chose not to address the position in free agency or the draft, he continues to be a potential fantasy RB2 in a very potent offense ... Watkins will force fantasy owners into a tough decision. He offers league-winning upside if Hill is suspended or released, but comes with a troubling injury history that's held his career back. In the sixth round, he's well worth the risk ... Moore was one of my breakout candidates for 2019 and is an ideal upside pick in this range.

Round 7

Round 7: Patriots first-round rookie wideout Harry is an intriguing talent on a team that desperately needs help in the receiving corps. Even so, it's a bold call to take him over receivers we've already seen produce at the next level like Williams and Anderson, who go a few picks later ... Drake is an outstanding value here. If he's unleashed by the new coaching staff in Miami, Drake could improve on his RB2 numbers from a year ago ... With Henry and Engram finding homes this round, the crop of impact fantasy tight ends is drying up.

Round 8

Round 8: Even as someone who normally waits on quarterbacks, Rodgers and Mayfield in the eighth would have been hard to pass up ... Cohen is a dynamic weapon in Matt Nagy's offense, but the arrival of Montgomery as a potential three-down option and Davis as an overqualified backup crowds the Bears' backfield and could threaten Cohen's volume ... Pettis was another name on my breakout list and settles in as a high-ceiling fourth receiver on my roster.

Round 9

Round 9: Until we get a decision from the league on Hill, I've kept him out of my re-draft rankings. Someone will be open to drafting him in the later rounds, but it won't be me ... My tight end gambit backfires as I come two picks short of getting Cook. While there are still tight ends left that I'm interested in, my confidence level drops after the top seven ... With only a few rounds left, I decided to reach a bit on Wentz to lock up my favorite fantasy quarterback outside the top five. Wentz is surrounded by talent and expected to enter the season fully healthy for the first time since 2017.

Round 10

Round 10: Upside should be your main focus in the late rounds ... Barber was one of the biggest winners during the NFL draft. The Bucs didn't select a replacement, leaving him to battle it out with 2018 bust Ronald Jones. Barber may lack elite skills, but he's a volume-dependent back who's about to get a huge opportunity ... This round was littered with WR value. Samuel, Brown, and Allison will be on a lot of my teams this year, while Landry and Shepard are great investments this deep in the draft.

Round 11

Round 11: Team Woods, which was set at tight end with Kelce, couldn't pass up the value of Ebron in the 11th, robbing me of a late-round steal at a position of need. Fortunately, this is a 10-team league and many options will be available early in the year on the waiver wire. The takeaway to remember is the bigger the league, the more aggressive you should be in securing a quality tight end earlier in the draft ... Metcalf and Hardman carry big-play upside but could struggle with consistency in their rookie seasons. They're perfect additions to your fantasy bench where you can control their rights while monitoring their early-season performances.

Round 12

Round 12: Murray as the 10th quarterback might shock a few owners, but his rushing ability gives him a chance to be an immediate fantasy starter. And as I mentioned regarding tight ends, a 10-team league will have plenty of options on the waiver wire, especially at quarterback ... Take note of the running backs selected in this round. Samuels, Williams, Henderson, Lewis, and Hyde will lead you to a fantasy title if the starter gets injured on their teams ... Burton will enter the season with a very weak hold on the starting spot in my lineup. I'll be watching to see if veterans like Delanie Walker and Jordan Reed are healthy; if Austin Hooper, Chris Herndon, or Mark Andrews can build on their recent success; and if rookies T.J. Hockenson or Noah Fant can assert themselves in Year 1.
