Lynn Redden, a superintendent in Texas, resigned Saturday amid backlash over his comments about the Houston Texans' Deshaun Watson and other black quarterbacks.

After the Texans dropped their Week 2 encounter with the Tennessee Titans, Redden wrote "you can't count on a black quarterback" on the Houston Chronicle's Facebook page. He made the comment in reference to a poor throw by Watson toward the end of the game.

When asked by the newspaper about the racist post, Redden noted that black quarterbacks have had "limited success" throughout NFL history.

Redden was superintendent of the Onalaska Independent School District in Onalaska, Texas.
