Report: Anthem policy change will not be discussed at owner meetings

NFL owners are not expected to vote on changing the league's policy regarding the national anthem next week when they meet, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Though player conduct during the national anthem has been a hot topic after increased player protests in 2017, owners will instead discuss the social justice platform in general at the meetings. And Freshly-signed New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis expects that broad discussion will help reduce the number of player protests next season.

"The league has been instrumental in helping us bring light to our community and the issues that are going on in them," Davis, a member of the Players Coalition, told ESPN's Rich Cimini on Tuesday.

The league announced in December that it would be pledging $90 million over seven seasons to social justice causes and forming a committee made up of five players and five owners to lead the program.
