The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Friday they released veteran running back Chris Ivory.

Ivory's $6.4-million average annual salary was the sixth-highest among running backs. He signed a five-year, $32-million contract ahead of the 2016 season as a free agent.

The Jaguars already paid him all of the deal's guaranteed money, and the move leaves them with $3 million in dead cap space.

The eighth-year pro played 14 games in 2017, making three starts in place of rookie Leonard Fournette. He amassed 382 yards on 112 rushing attempts and 175 yards on 21 receptions, scoring two touchdowns.

Ivory was originally signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2010.

He has career totals of 4,852 rushing yards, 743 receiving yards, and 31 touchdowns in 95 games that also include a three-year stint with the New York Jets. He'll turn 30 years old near the end of March.

The Jaguars also announced the waiving of defensive back Jarrod Harper, running back I'Tavius Mathers, and wide receiver Larry Pinkard.
