In the days leading up to the AFC Championship contest, much of the discussion surrounded the status of Tom Brady's hand after he suffered an injury in Wednesday's practice.

The New England Patriots quarterback received 12 stitches and played with a thick piece of black tape on the bottom of his right thumb. He seemed unaffected and played his usual brilliant game, throwing for 290 yards and two touchdowns in the comeback win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Appearing on WEEI's Kirk and Callahan show on Monday morning, Brady admitted he wasn't sure he'd be able to play when the injury first happened.

"I wasn't sure, I really wasn't," Brady said. "It didn't look good there for a little bit, but fortunately, Thursday, I didn't practice, I took some time off. Friday, did just a little bit and things kind of felt a lot better on Saturday and (Sunday). I was just able to kind of do what I needed to do. Everyone deals with injuries. It's just part of the season and part of the year. The timing and where exactly it was wasn't the best thing in the world for a quarterback, but it is what it is."

Brady confirmed the stitches will be out for Super Bowl LII, and the hand injury won't be an issue when he takes the field against the Philadelphia Eagles on Feb. 4th.
