New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is expected to take the Indianapolis Colts' head coaching job when the team offers it to him, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

Since McDaniels is coaching the Patriots in the postseason, the Colts are unable to officially offer him the job until New England's season is over.

McDaniels was reportedly believed to prefer the Tennessee Titans' job over all others, though it is unclear when the belief was held.

The 41-year-old has previous experience as a head coach with the Denver Broncos from 2009-10 and has been the Patriots offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach since 2012. He has spent 15 of his 18 seasons coaching in the NFL with the Patriots, winning five Super Bowls over that time.

Dallas Cowboys linebackers coach Matt Eberflus is expected to come along with McDaniels as his defensive coordinator, a source told Pelissero.
