The New England Patriots secured a first-round bye as a result of the Jacksonville Jaguars' 44-33 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was the star again for the 49ers, completing 21 of 30 pass attempts for 242 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

The Patriots did their part by beating the Buffalo Bills 37-16 earlier in the day.

New England would clinch home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs if the Pittsburgh Steelers lose to the Houston Texans on Monday afternoon. The Patriots would also lock up the No. 1 seed with a win over the New York Jets next Sunday.
