Panthers' Davis concusses Adams with dirty helmet-to-helmet hit

Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis launched himself into Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams during an interception return, connecting on a scary helmet-to-helmet hit.

Adams was diagnosed with a concussion and won't return to the game, the team announced.

Adams was able to walk off the field under his own power.

Based on the NFL's recent desire to clamp down on bad hits, Davis could be facing a suspension. Pittsburgh Steelers rookie receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was banned for one game for a similar hit on Vontaze Burfict, though his taunting penalty after the play also factored into his punishment.

Adams - who caught a touchdown earlier in the game - had a clear message for Panthers fans as he headed toward the locker room:
