The New England Patriots are signing former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Kenny Britt to a two-year contract, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Britt was released by the Browns on Friday, less than one season into a four-year deal he inked as a free agent in March. The 29-year-old was coming off the most productive campaign of his career, posting 1,002 yards and five touchdowns with the Los Angeles Rams in 2016.

Britt has been of interest to the Patriots in the past, but the club was never able to secure his services until now. He's battled off-field issues throughout his career, and they contributed to his release from Cleveland.

A nine-year pro out of Rutgers, Britt had 18 receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns in nine appearances for the winless Browns this season.
