Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase has ruled out quarterback Jay Cutler for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots due to a concussion suffered in Week 11, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald.

Backup Matt Moore will start in his place. David Fales will serve as his backup.

Cutler spent the week in the league's concussion protocol, participating in some light throwing in Thursday and Friday's practices.

Moore replaced Cutler last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and finished the game by going 17-for-28 for 282 yards and a touchdown.

Cutler had gone just 6-for-12 for 83 yards and one touchdown, while throwing three interceptions.

Moore's first start of the season was against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8. He completed 25 of 44 passes for 176 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions.

He's participated in a total of three games, completing 59.1 percent of 93 pass attempts for 646 yards, and an equal three touchdowns to three interceptions. All three of his touchdown passes have gone to wide receiver Kenny Stills.
