Houston Texans star Deshaun Watson tore his ACL at practice Thursday during a non-contact play, but there's a possibility he could've first injured the ligament last Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The team has reviewed video from the game and believe Watson could've first injured his right knee during a fourth-quarter play in which Seahawks defensive end Frank Clark rolled into Watson's leg. The quarterback grabbed at his knee immediately, Schefter reports.

"I can't be 100 percent sure, but I wouldn't be surprised," a doctor said of the possibility Watson was injured on that play. "Something happened as he grabbed his knee. And if you look at it in slow motion, one mechanism of injury is there."

Watson is expected to be sidelined for 8 to 9 months, a source informed Schefter.

Should he undergo surgery this month, such a timeline would have Watson back by the end of next summer.

Watson suffered a torn ACL in college and returned after just five months. The Texans are hoping for a similar recovery this time around.
