Miami Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso won't receive a suspension for his late hit on Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart announced Tuesday, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Alonso connected with Flacco's head as he attempted to slide, concussing the quarterback. The linebacker received an unnecessary roughness penalty, but wasn't ejected.
While Alonso defended himself after Thursday's game, saying there was "no way" he could've avoided making contact with Flacco, the hit was widely criticized and many called for Alonso to be banned.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is optimistic Flacco will be ready to play in Week 9.
