Chicago Bears tight end Zach Miller suffered a gruesome leg injury in Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, which head coach John Fox characterized as a dislocated left knee. But the damage appears to be much more severe.

Miller underwent emergency surgery in New Orleans to repair a damaged artery, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports. Surgeons aren't just trying to mend the injury, but save Miller's leg, ESPN's Adam Schefter adds.

Vascular surgeons were called in for an operation that involved grafting tissue from Miller's other leg to repair the damage to the artery in his left leg, Mortensen reports.
