The Arizona Cardinals will start Drew Stanton at quarterback for the remainder of the season after losing Carson Palmer to a broken arm for at least eight weeks, head coach Bruce Arians confirmed following Sunday's loss.

Arians told reporters after the game that third-string quarterback Blaine Gabbert will not be considered over Stanton.

"He's number two," said Arians, referring to Stanton. "You don't skip two to go to three."

Stanton completed 5 of 14 passes for 62 yards with one interception after replacing Palmer against the Los Angeles Rams Sunday. The 10th-year pro started one game for the Cardinals last season, defeating the San Francisco 49ers while Palmer was injured.

The Cardinals enter a bye week and will play the 49ers on the road in two weeks.
