Ex-Packer Jones: Hundley is 'a future Hall of Famer'

One of Brett Hundley's former teammates has very high hopes for the Green Bay Packers quarterback as he makes his first career start Sunday.

Free-agent defensive lineman Datone Jones, who played two seasons with Hundley in Green Bay and three years at UCLA, believes Aaron Rodgers' replacement will surprise the doubters.

"Brett Hundley is a great quarterback," Jones told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. "He's a future Hall of Famer. I have no bad things to say about Brett Hundley. He's a great guy."

Jones admitted he's biased toward his fellow UCLA alumnus, but pointed to Rodgers' mentorship of the third-year pro as reason to believe the Packers will be all right in the veteran's absence.

"Brett Hundley, he's an all-star," said Jones. "Brett's sat behind Aaron Rodgers for a few years now. He could have easily been one of the top quarterbacks coming out of the draft, so just learning from (Packers head coach Mike) McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers, I don't think he has anything to worry about."

Hundley gets his first start at home on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
