Brady says his accuracy needs improvement

Tom Brady is taking the blame for the New England Patriots not putting up the margin of victory that they're used to.

The veteran quarterback said he's been struggling with his accuracy and is leaving too many opportunities on the table.

"When the throws are there, I have to be able to make them," Brady said Friday, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss. "It's disappointing when I don't. ... I wish I hit them all. I'm capable of hitting them all. I need to be able to do that."

Brady has recorded a 65.7 completion percentage through six games - ranking 11th in the league among quarterbacks with at least 50 attempts - though he only completed 52.6 percent of his passes against the New York Jets last week.

The 18-year pro isn't blaming any missed passes on his injured left shoulder, saying his accuracy "comes down to technique and fundamentals and making sure everything is working."

Brady added that the Patriots' 14 touchdowns on 25 trips to the red zone is a ratio that can improve if his accuracy picks up.

"Some of these games wouldn't be as close if I was playing better in the red area," Brady said. "I think some of those missed opportunities in the pass game with me hitting guys would really help our team. Hopefully I can do a better job for this team."

The Patriots face the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday, a team Brady completed 69.4 percent of his passes against in their most recent matchup at Super Bowl LI.
