NFL finds no bias from Morelli's crew against Eagles

Despite claims to the contrary, the Philadelphia Eagles have gotten a fair shake from Pete Morelli's officiating crew, according to the NFL.

The league found that Morelli's crew officiated the Eagles fairly during an Oct. 12 game against the Carolina Panthers, according to ESPN's Tim McManus.

During the game - a Philadelphia victory - the Eagles incurred 126 penalty yards on 10 infractions, compared to just one penalty for 1 yard against the Panthers. Over the last four Eagles games that Morelli's crew has worked, the combined penalty disparity is 40-8 for Philadelphia compared to its opponents.

A number of Eagles fans complained about Morelli's crew - even starting an online petition to ban it from working their games - but the league found no evidence of bias, meaning the crew will likely work more Eagles games in the future, according to McManus. The NFL Referees Association also vehemently denied the claims.

"Claims like these demonstrate a fundamental lack of knowledge about NFL officiating," NFLRA executive director Scott Green said in a statement obtained by ESPN. "NFL officials are graded on every call made in every game. Missing a single one can hurt his or her ranking and may be the difference between working in the postseason or not."

The Eagles submitted videos to the NFL but have yet to receive any comment from the league.

Morelli's crew is on its bye for Week 7, according to Football Zebras.
