Winston to start vs. Bills despite shoulder injury

Tim Heitman / USA TODAY Sports

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston will start Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills despite dealing with an injury to his throwing shoulder, head coach Dirk Koetter announced Friday, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.

Winston reportedly suffered an AC joint sprain to his right shoulder last weekend against the Arizona Cardinals that knocked him out of the game, though he was cleared to return in an emergency situation.

The Bucs sit precariously at 2-3 after two straight losses, in desperate need of a win to get back on track following an offseason full of optimism.

Winston's lackluster play has been one of the main issues. He's thrown for 1,259 yards and seven touchdowns to three interceptions in five games.
