Browns' Thomas out for season with torn triceps

Ken Blaze / USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Browns announced that left tackle Joe Thomas sustained a torn left triceps on Sunday and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Results of an MRI on Monday confirmed the extent of the injury - one the team described as "heartbreaking."

The Browns have never had to contend with life without Thomas since taking him with the third overall pick in the 2007 draft. He'd lined up for 10,363 consecutive snaps before suffering the injury in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans.

The 11-year veteran thanked fans for their concerns on Sunday ahead of his MRI and revealed Monday that he will soon undergo surgery.
