Week 5 Betting Preview: Predictions for every matchup

Aaron Doster / USA TODAY Sports

Each week during the NFL season, theScore's Dane Belbeck will handicap every matchup and offer up a three-pack of picks.

Week 4 record: 9-7
Overall: 36-27

Buffalo Bills at Cincinnati Bengals (-3)

After hammering the Browns last week, the Cincinnati Bengals look to be back on track with the AFC East-leading Bills coming to town. Buffalo is coming off a surprising road win at Atlanta, and could be primed for a letdown in Cincinnati. The Bengals defense should be able to limit the Bills run-based attack, and Andy Dalton will make enough plays to get the home win. Bengals 28, Bills 17

San Francisco 49ers at Indianapolis Colts (-1.5)

Picking a team as poor as the Indianapolis Colts as the second-best bet this week may not be the wisest move, but this is a good spot for the club. The Colts were neck-and-neck with the Seahawks last week through almost three full quarters before blowing up late, but the home atmosphere should give them some confidence against the winless 49ers.

Jacksonville Jaguars (+8) at Pittsburgh Steelers

The Jacksonville Jaguars celebrated a big win in London over the Ravens with a loss to the lowly Jets last week. While that doesn't exactly inspire a ton of confidence heading in to Pittsburgh, the Jaguars stout defense will keep this one within eight points. Steelers 24, Jaguars 20

Remaining matchups

Carolina Panthers (+2.5) at Detroit Lions

Fresh off a stunning upset of the Patriots, the Panthers head to Detroit to face the Lions. Cam Newton looked to regain his swagger in the win and that bodes well for Carolina going forward. Panthers 27, Lions 24

New York Jets at Cleveland Browns (-1.5)

When the schedule was released for the 2017 season, most people circled the Jets-Browns matchup as the worst game of the season. The Browns held up their end of the bargain by losing the first four contests, but the Jets enter on a stunning two-game winning streak. That ends on Sunday as Cleveland notches its first win. Browns 24, Jets 20

Tennessee Titans at Miami Dolphins (No Line)

Matt Cassell versus Jay Cutler may have been a decent quarterback matchup five years ago, but in 2017 it's a game to avoid watching. Miami rebounds from a terrible loss in London with the home win. Dolphins 17, Titans 14

*Pick is if Marcus Mariota cannot play

Los Angeles Chargers at New York Giants (-3.5)

While the thought of Eli Manning trying to avoid the Chargers' pass rush is scary, Los Angeles has looked dreadful the last two weeks. That doesn't bode well for a cross-country road trip. Giants 28, Chargers 20

Arizona Cardinals (+6.5) at Philadelphia Eagles

There's really no justifiable reason to think the Cardinals can win this game based on this season's record. That being said, the defense is stout enough to keep this close. Eagles 20, Cardinals 17

Baltimore Ravens (+2.5) at Oakland Raiders

While the Baltimore Ravens have looked terrible in recent weeks, no team starting E.J. Manuel should ever be favored in a game. Ravens 21, Raiders 17

Seattle Seahawks (+1) at Los Angeles Rams

The Rams looked excellent last week in Dallas but are primed for a letdown against the Seahawks. While Seattle's offensive line issues are certainly worrying, Russell Wilson will get enough done for the road win. Seahawks 27, Rams 21

Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys (-2)

Hate betting against Aaron Rodgers, but Green Bay is so banged up with injuries that the Cowboys should be able to pull off the home win. Cowboys 28, Packers 24

Kansas City Chiefs at Houston Texans (+1)

Deshaun Watson has officially arrived on the national NFL stage and is being rewarded with a Sunday Night Football appearance against the undefeated Chiefs. The rookie gets it done again to hand Kansas City its first loss. Texans 28. Chiefs 27

Minnesota Vikings (No Line) at Chicago Bears

It's Mitchell Trubisky time in Chicago, as the first-round pick will make his NFL debut against the Vikings. Don't be shocked to see Xavier Rhodes have a monster game at corner for Minnesota. Vikings 20, Bears 13

Byes: Redskins, Falcons, Broncos, Saints
