49ers' Hoyer happy to 'move on really quick' in short week

Thursday Night Football has drawn no shortage of complaints from players, coaches, and fans for providing teams with too little time to prepare for games.

The one positive for some players is that it can offer a quicker chance at redemption, something San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brian Hoyer is looking forward to following a 12-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

"It was a tough game and now we move on," Hoyer said, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area. "Thankfully, this week we get to move on really quick and move on to L.A."

His desire to expedite his return to the field follows criticism from head coach Kyle Shanahan.

"We need Brian to step up, and we need everyone around him to step up," said Shanahan, according to Maiocco.

Hoyer has completed 39-of-62 pass attempts, raising his career completion percentage, but is averaging a paltry 4.71 yards per attempt, and has tossed no touchdowns and two interceptions.

"I want him to get his edge back. I want him to get his confidence," Shanahan said.

Hoyer completed a play of at least 25 yards in all five of his starts with the Chicago Bears last year. Only four teams have completed fewer passing plays of 20-plus yards than the 49ers this season.
