Giants' McAdoo takes blame for dismal loss to Lions

New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo took the fall for his team's 24-10 loss as his offense looked ugly against the Detroit Lions on Monday.

McAdoo opened his post-game press conference by telling reporters to "put this game on me."

The second-year head coach didn't provide many tangible responses to concerns about his team's 10-point performance, which followed a 3-point output in Week 1.

"We have to do better. We've dug ourselves in a hole. No one is going to feel sorry for us," McAdoo said, according to his team. "The whole offense needs work. We're not in rhythm right now …

"We have to analyze everything we're doing … we have to get to work."

The Giants lost right tackle Bobby Hart early in the game causing the team to move players around the offensive line, which resulted in giving up five sacks and eight quarterback hits. McAdoo commended left guard Justin Pugh for his efforts after moving to right tackle, though it is clear the line needs help.

McAdoo wasn't the only one trying to shoulder the blame as Eli Manning and Brandon Marshall had similar reactions to the loss.

"I can play better … that's the quarterback's job," said Manning. "I have to find ways to move the offense."

"I let my team down," said Marshall, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

In short, everyone on the Giants had a hand in the disappointing loss.
