Report: Bridgewater cleared to practice after major knee injury in 2016

Teddy Bridgewater has been cleared to practice by the doctor who performed his surgery following a devastating August 2016 knee injury, a source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Minnesota has a three-week window in which to either add the quarterback to the 53-man roster or shut him down for the season, and according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Vikings plan to activate him this week or next week.

Minnesota expects Bridgewater to play this season, added Rapoport.

Bridgewater hinted he'd received good news earlier Monday, simply tweeting, "Thank you."

It's been a near-miraculous recovery for the young pivot, who needed an ambulance after suffering a non-contact knee injury in practice. It was believed his career was in serious jeopardy.

If Bridgewater returns, the timing couldn't be better for the Vikings, who appear set to start Case Keenum for the foreseeable future with Sam Bradford struggling to recover from a knee injury.
