Vikings' Cook out for season with torn ACL

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer announced Monday morning that rookie running back Dalvin Cook suffered a torn ACL on Sunday - an injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season.
Cook's left knee gave out while he tried to make a cut during Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions. He walked gingerly off the field, but was unable to avoid a major injury.
"I expect him to come back and be the same that he was," Zimmer added.
Cook won the starting job after being selected with the Vikings' second-round pick in this year's draft.
After four games, he ranks as the league's third-leading rusher with 354 yards and two touchdowns.
Cook's injury is the latest in a long list of blows to Vikings stars. Starting quarterback Sam Bradford hasn't played since Week 1 due to a knee injury, and former first-round pick Teddy Bridgewater has been out since shredding his knee during the 2016 preseason.
Former franchise running back Adrian Peterson also tore his ACL late in the 2011 season. He rebounded the next year by nearly breaking the single-season rushing record.
Offseason signing Latavius Murray had been backing up Cook and figures to be first in line to take over at running back moving forward.
