At the Green Bay Packers shareholders meeting Monday, CEO Mark Murphy had a message fans should be excited to hear.

With Super Bowl LII being played in a neighbouring state, Murphy is excited about the chance for his team to play for the Lombardi Trophy in a nearby city.

"It's going to be a lot of fun for all our fans to drive across the state when we're in the Super Bowl in Minneapolis," Murphy told shareholders, according to Aaron Nagler of PackersNews.com.

The Packers came within one win of a trip to Super Bowl LI last season, but couldn't stop the Atlanta Falcons' offense and were sent home in the NFC Championship match.

Green Bay has not been to the big dance since defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV seven years ago.
