Ex-Raven Orr '100 percent confident' he'll play this season, agent says

In a stunning turn of events, former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Zachary Orr has gone, in a matter of months, from retired to certain he'll be on the field this September.

Orr announced Wednesday that he's seeking a return to the NFL after retiring in January due to a congenital spine condition.

"In Zach's mind, he's 100 percent confident he will play this season," his agent, Rob Sheets, said to Childs Walker of the Baltimore Sun.

"This is a one-in-a-billion situation. I couldn't even make this up."

Orr was a force during the 2016 season. He received his first shot at a starting role and led Baltimore with 132 tackles while adding three interceptions in 15 games. Orr retired unexpectedly after he was told he wouldn't be able to pass an NFL physical, but he was advised to seek other medical opinions and has been assured of his ability to play again.

Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome confirmed Orr is now a free agent and he's already generated plenty of interest.

Sheets assures that his client didn't retire as a means of sparking a bidding war for his services upon his return.

"There was no reason, based on the information we had at the time, to think he was anything other than finished," Sheets said. "We're not trying to circumvent the system. If you know anything about this young man, you know that's the furthest thing from the truth."
