Houston Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney believes his potential is limitless after submitting his breakout campaign in 2016.
Clowney's first two seasons were marred by injuries and many were quick to label the former first overall pick as a potential bust. The 24-year-old starred in J.J. Watt's absence last year, recording 52 tackles, six sacks, and a forced fumble, proving that he can be one of the NFL's marquee edge rushers when healthy.
Texans defensive line coach Anthony Weaver said earlier this month that Clowney possesses Hall of Fame potential, a notion that the Pro Bowl end agrees with.
"It meant a lot to me," Clowney said to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. "He sees the work I've put in from two years of being injured to the next year to the year after. All the guys around my team tell me to keep improving and keep getting better and come back for another great season this year.
"I'm not surprised. He sees my potential. He sees what I can do. I've been talking to him since he came in the building. He sees me working. He coached me. I would say hats off to my coach and I'm going to get ready to go for him."
Paired alongside Watt and Whitney Mercilus, Clowney's case for Canton will be fortified with another standout season that sees the Texans win the division for the third consecutive year.
