Report: Blount can earn $50K bonus if he's between 240-245 lbs for camp

It's the offseason of running back weight bonuses, and the Philadelphia Eagles seem to have a specific range in mind for their new ball-carrier.

LeGarrette Blount can cash in on an extra $50,000 if he's between 240-245 pounds when the team reports for training camp at the end of July, ESPN's Field Yates reports, citing a source.

Weight clauses typically provide incentives for checking in under a specified mark. The deal Eddie Lacy signed with the Seattle Seahawks this offseason provides perhaps the most notable example, as he can take home $55,000 for each of the six monthly benchmarks designed to have him cut weight over the summer and then maintain for the season.

Yates' report of a five-pound range for Blount would appear to suggest that, in addition to putting a cap on his weight, the Eagles also don't want him to lose too much of the size that has long made him a power runner.

Blount enters his first training camp in Philadelphia as the runaway favorite for early down carries. The 30-year-old was incredibly productive in that role with the New England Patriots last season, taking 299 carries for 1,161 yards and a league-high 18 touchdowns.
