Rams' Woods setting sights on role as Goff's No. 1 WR

Robert Woods has every intention of living up to the five-year, $34-million deal he landed from the Los Angeles Rams this offseason.

After four years in Buffalo, where he predominantly played second fiddle to Sammy Watkins, the veteran is looking to establish himself as the No. 1 target in the Rams' passing game.

"I always come in attacking the season trying to be the No. 1 receiver," Woods said, according to Gary Klein of The Los Angeles Times.

Woods will have some competition for that spot, as rookies Cooper Kupp and Josh Reynolds will join him and Tavon Austin in what figures to be an open competition, but the Rams certainly paid him as if he'll be a top wideout.

If he can rise to the occasion and spearhead the group, it would certainly help the development of quarterback Jared Goff, who struggled after joining the Rams as the No. 1 overall pick last year.

A second-round pick in 2013, Woods maintained a relatively steady level of play during his time with the Bills before bolting for the West Coast as a free agent.

The most productive season of his career came as a sophomore back in 2014, when he racked up 65 receptions for 699 yards and five touchdowns.
