Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Testing faster and stronger than last year

The Cowboys believe Prescott is faster and stronger heading into his second season in the league, Clarence J. Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. "[The team] tested last Monday," quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson said Wednesday. "[Prescott] has improved strength-wise, flexibility-wise, speed-wise, quickness-wise. He's not resting on anything that went on last year."

Analysis:

The Cowboys recently tested players present for OTAs in the 20-yard dash, bench press, cone drills and vertical jump, among other drills. Prescott reportedly surpassed his first-year numbers across the board, which he attributed to his offseason work with Cowboys strength coach Mike Woicik. While these athletic improvements are unlikely to directly result in improved passing stats for Prescott's in 2017, adding strength could make him more of a load as runner after he contributed 282 yards as a rookie.
