The Pittsburgh Steelers have released veteran quarterback Zach Mettenberger, the team announced Monday.
Mettenberger's departure comes just two days after the club picked up former Tennessee quarterback Joshua Dobbs in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Dobbs will enter training camp as the third quarterback on the depth chart behind Ben Roethlisberger and Landry Jones, where he'll be brought along as a developmental player.
Adding to the position this offseason became more imperative with Roethlisberger weighing the possibility of retirement.
