Due to Aaron Hernandez's suicide on Wednesday, his former employer, the New England Patriots, might have to honor a $3.5-million bonus in the former tight end's contract, Brett Bodner of the New York Daily News reports.
In accordance to a Massachusetts law, Hernandez's conviction in the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd will likely be vacated. If the murder charge is vacated, the Patriots may be contractually obligated to deliver the $3.5-million bonus to Hernandez's estate, attorney William Kennedy said.
In his death, Hernandez leaves behind fiancee Shayanna Jenkins Hernandez and a 4-year-old daughter.
