Jason Pierre-Paul missed the the last month of the 2016 season due to a sports hernia injury in December, and the New York Giants defensive end revealed Thursday the complexities of the surgery.

Pierre-Paul said he required four procedures over the course of a single surgery.

"I had two abdominal surgeries and two groin surgeries," Pierre-Paul said, adding that all four were performed during the same surgery, according to the New York Daily News' Seth Walder.

Pierre-Paul - who signed a reported four-year, $62-million contract extension in mid-March - wouldn't say whether the surgery will cause him to miss any of the Giants' offseason program, according to SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.
