Report: Titans, Eagles interested in trading for Saints' Cooks

Geoff Burke / USA TODAY Sports

New Orleans Saints receiver Brandin Cooks has drawn trade interest from both the Tennessee Titans and Philadelphia Eagles, reports ESPN's Chris Mortensen, citing sources.

The Titans appear to be leading candidate, Mortensen adds.

Cooks is entering the final year of his rookie contract and the Titans and Eagles are two teams with obvious receiver needs. Both have ascending quarterbacks who can't afford to play much longer without a top target or wait for a weapon to develop.

Mortensen writes that a simple trade of the Titans' 18th overall pick in the upcoming draft is a possibility, as is a swap of the Titans' and Saints' top first-round picks.

The 5-foot-10 wideout has recorded two straight 1,100-plus receiving-yard seasons with 17 touchdown catches between the two years.

The Saints own an impressive array of young, talented pass-catchers and may have already identified Cooks as one they won't be able to extend next season.

New Orleans drafted Michael Thomas last season and he produced a 92-catch, 1,137-yard, nine-touchdown season in his first year in the league. He's flanked by Willie Snead and Brandon Coleman who both also have three years or less of NFL experience.

The Saints may opt to use their surplus at the position to improve the overall talent of their roster.
