Buccaneers' Cameron Brate: Signed to one-year tender

Rate (back) was tendered a one-year contract by the Buccaneers on Tuesday, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Analysis:

Brate's tender will keep him in Tampa for the 2017 season and make him a restricted free agent next offseason. The tight end broke out in his third year in the league, racking up 57 catches for 660 yards in 15 games. Brate's eight touchdown receptions were tied for first in the league among tight ends, and he showed a great rapport with Jameis Winston as one of his preferred red-zone targets. Since he is a restricted free agent in 2018, the Buccaneers will be able to match any offer Brate receives from another team next offseason.
