The New England Patriots found themselves in uncharted territory not even two quarters into Sunday night's big game.
An incredibly strong start on both sides of the ball saw the Atlanta Falcons jump out to a 21-0 first-half lead, putting New England at its largest Super Bowl deficit in the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era.
The largest deficit in the Patriots' last six appearances came when they fell behind the Seattle Seahawks by 10 points in Super Bowl XLIX.
Oddly enough, the Patriots tied a Super Bowl record when rebounding from that disadvantage to take down the Seahawks and come away with another Lombardi Trophy.
Brady and Belichick notching their fifth title would, of course, now involve shattering that record.
