Dickerson changes stance, says Elliott won't break rookie record
After begrudgingly admitting in October that Ezekiel Elliott could break his rookie rushing record, Eric Dickerson has reversed his course.
Dickerson is impressed with Elliott's 1,005 yards in nine games as a first-year player and knows he is part of a talented team, but the Hall of Famer isn't worried about seeing his own accomplishment eclipsed.
"Zeke does a great job of picking and choosing his holes, he really does," Dickerson told "SportsCenter" on Wednesday, according to USA Today's Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz. "And the offensive line, they stopped everybody at the line of scrimmage.
"But is he gonna break that record? No, he ain't gonna break that record. That record's safe."
Elliott is currently on pace for a league-leading 1,787 yards, while Dickerson's record sits at 1,808. The former Los Angeles Rams runner says that if Elliott did break his record, he would be happy for the rookie.
"I'd be happy for him, I really would," Dickerson said. "But that's not gonna happen. ... I'm not gonna throw a party either way."
