Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy has suddenly come under fire of late as his team has scuffled to a 4-5 record, leading many to wonder whether or not he's on the hot seat.

In light of a three-game losing streak, McCarthy took the opportunity to remind everyone of his success to this point in his coaching career.

"Let's state the facts: I'm a highly successful NFL coach," McCarthy said Monday, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. "With that, I've never looked at the ride to this point as smooth."

McCarthy went on to talk about the long road he's had to success, highlighting the adversity the Packers have been through during his 10-plus seasons as head coach.

"To me, it's always bumpy, and to me that's the joy of it," McCarthy continued. "That's this game. That's how hard it is in the NFL. Really, what you did last year or 2010, as we know, doesn't factor."

While his comments were in line with what most coaches say during a down swing, it does seem a bit odd that McCarthy is so defensive about his position as the Packers head coach, having to tout his track record to the media in the midst of a disappointing season.
