Chicago Bears quarterback Brian Hoyer, who broke his arm in Thursday's loss to the Green Bay Packers, is likely to need surgery, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Hoyer reportedly broke his radius, one of the forearm's two large bones.
The surgery won't end the veteran passer's campaign, however, as a late-season return is possible, according to Rapoport.
Matt Barkley finished the game in relief of Hoyer, and will presumably be in line to start in Week 8 if Jay Cutler isn't cleared to play.
Head coach John Fox said Cutler - who's missed the last five games with a thumb injury - is nearing a return.
